Today I just realized that I have been doing this diary for over a year now, and I think I have improved a ton. I mean, look at this!! "it was a very, very awesome day." Now, I just say one very. No need for more, but unless I score 3 goals in one game in San Diego, yeah. Now I also am way better at capitalization and spelling. Insead of "awesome", I can think of eccentric, extraordinary, gleeful, and more. So, I have improved a lot since then.
In the game against the Dragons, we tied 2 - 2, but we should have won around 3 - 0. I think our forwards had tons of chances, but we just didn't finish those chances. Also, mom later told me that this team is ranked around 85 in the state while we are 12, so I'm sure we are going to drop to around 40th place. Yay.
Today we had a soccer game against RCL 4. I thought this game would be close, but it wasn't. You might be like, "Oh no, you guys lost by around 3 goals! Oh no, you're out of the tournament! But no. We won, and it wasn't even than close. The score? Oh yeah, they almost won, it was 7 - 1. They were just 7 goals away from winning! Yeah, I was being sarcastic. We were dominating the whole entire time. Their only goal was off a corner, where they hit it directly at Archer and it slipped between his fingers for some reason. That was when the score was 4 - 0, making it 4 - 1. Also, I saw some people I recognized; Tang and Tyler. I know Ethan is on their team, but he is sick.
Today we beat harbor FC 6 - 1. We absolutly bombarded them with our shots and crosses. We had so many opportunities that if we were to have a chart on how many shots each team had, it would be 1 - 100. Crazy! So, we obviously qualified for the finals. I didn't understand any part of it about the brackets. But, all I knew was that we would be playing against RCL 4, which we previously beat 8 -1. I know I said 7 - 1 yesterday, but the goal counting made a mistake. So, we played them againt and didn't take it easy at all. The final score? We lost 3 - 2.
Just kidding! We acutally beat them 10 - 0, a total smackdown. After the game, I tried to make Tang feel better by hugging him, but his mom was like "This isn't anything to be proud of; it's a new team!" and then stormed away. Mom told me that she said it because of the score. 10 - 0 is a powerful statement, and I think Tang's mom thinks she made a bad decision to move away from Surf.
For the past 4 days, I went to a python coding camp, where you go and learn how to code python. When you do, I think that I was a total noob when I started the camp, but now I learned a ton, for example importing functions, while and for loops, how to draw something, little code like that. The big thing we made that we started today is a Snake game, where you go and eat "apples" to gain length. The more apples you eat, the higher the score, but the longer you get, the harder it is to eat the apples because you can't hit yourself or else it will be like the very hungry caterpillar all over again (you are going to eat yourself).
Also, I got a flash drive from Tyler. I downloaded my code onto the flash drive, and now I can code on Dad's computer. I couldn't use my Macbook because it has a USB-C port, but I found a thing that allows me to plug the flash drive onto the Macbook. I forgot to drag Snake.py into my drive, but I'll do it tomorrow.
As you see, I've just about missed 2 weeks of writing my diary: sorry! I promise I'll try to keep up with these high standerds. I went on vacation in london, so I missed some action. Thankfully, I did write my diary for a week maybe, so that only puts me at a week. I would prefer writing 7 that over a dozen missing diaries. Also, I got that new skateboard that I have wanted for a month; looks really sleek, but terrible at riding on cracks in the concrete. If you don't go fast enough, your skateboard will abruptly stop and you and the board will lurch forward and fall, while the board stays there, and then you rage and snap your board and waste 30 dollars on a new board and then you have to buy a new one.
I also saw an email in dad's gmail account saying something about if my parents don't accept the offer to barcalona, then they will give my place to someone else instead. And not just the normal barca camp that your city hosts. The real deal... in Barcelona. Yeah, I was so good I get shipped to another flipping country for another week just like in Nevada and then I have to deal with being homesick and other kids that are better at soccer than me!!! I mean, I want to go, but I'm really nervous about all the other players. Will they be better? Worse? Same level?I have no idea.
Today we took a hike at Mount Baker. We did it in the same place last year for a 10 mile hike. But, this time we were going on a easier hike. It was around 5 miles total. Also, Tuan Tuan was hiking with us, so it would be a challenge for him. He's only 5! Before we went on the hike, we had a snowball fight. I hit Vincent a lot, while he smacked me a lot (with the snowballs).
There was a lake in the middle of the trail, and we stopped to put our feet in the water. Bad news, my shoes fell in the water with a plunk. So, I would have myself hiking around 2.5 miles back to the parking lot with wet shoes. The lake was so cold! It wasn't even warm enough to get used to! But, Vincent and his dad both swam a little in the lake. Brrr! Vincent later said that "it was my life's worst decision. But, that wasn't the worst part.
Rushan's glasses' lens fell out, so we had to go back to the lake to go and get it. I really didn't want to, because my stomach hurt a lot, but I still did. Eventually when we were about to turn back, we found it in the dirt. Yay! I had to go to the bathroom really bad, though, and there wasn't an outhouse for another 5 miles of mountain! So, I tried to get it all out, but all I managed to do was fart a lot. Then, I ran back to catch up with the rest of the people, namely Lucas and Rushan.
When we were close, we saw a pond with 2 big rocks. I easily climbed one, but the other was a little more hard. I tried to climb from the front, and I even needed Vincent's help. Eventually, I was able to climb up myself via the back; more handholds, more tall, more narrow. We eventually walked to a rock hillside. I was perplexed. How could this be? I know that most mountains have rock sides, but we weren't even that high up anymore. So, how? I've never seen one in Seattle.
When we got back it was 10:00 (it involved a few maneuvers, another hike, and a misdirection), so I immediately took a bath and brushed my teeth; I was in in bed till 8am the next day.
Today I just came back from Mount Baker. My family and I went to an Airbnb with Rushan's family along with Vincent's family and Gram's family, as you know. Yesterday we went hiking, as you know. Today, I played a lot of minecraft and started a new world. I found around 20 iron ingots in total, because I have around half to Kyle (or 10), and I broke multiple axes. I won't be seeing those worlds anyhow, because I'm not there! I played a lot of ping pong with Rushan, and I won a lot, but I also lost a lot. I learned that people are bad at handling low shots (including me), but that was the reason that I lost half of the time; not by being outmatched, but outmatching myself.
The minecraft that we played was on the XBOX 360. Those are really old, and the games were in CD discs. Yeah, the games were so old that they had CD inserts!
Today I started building the vex iq 2025 - 26 herobot, Huey. It's just a really slow robot with a 1:1 drivebase with a 1 motor claw and 1 moter lift that is literally used by pulleys and gear racks. Huff... huff... that was to much to say. Anyways, I'm going to make the robot 3:1 and have a 2:1 lift and a 5:1 claw. Yeah, maximum speed here, but not with the claw.
5:1 because claws are really useless for strength. All you need to do is grab, brake the motor, and then eventually open again. Repeat this cycle and you score a lot of points. But, my drivetrain cannot be 5:1. It will be too hard to control. But the lift? Easy 2:1. Power. Some speed. Perfect. But, if the 1:1 doesn't work out, I can always change it to 3:2. Just sprockets.
Today I finished building Huey. A lot of drama happened after I started: I finished the lift, made my own drive base, didn't work, crashed out, came back, finished another drive base, and attached it. Yay. Huey doesn't seem too shabby (last year, I didn't think swish was too shabby), but you never know. I saw another robot on a reposted bilibili video on youtube, but it had a really cool design. I'm not going to make one, but my team will. As you know, I made a conveyer belt last season, and it worked for the most part, but then failed. I didn't really know how to make one, so I just gave up. That's what a team is for. Even though I could have maybe made a backroller (I've had too much experience), I still can't make a conveyer. We didn't cover it, so I didn't have the slightest clue what was happening.
Anyways, Huey had a lot of upgrades from last year. Last year, the motor connected to 1 wheel; this year, the motor was a 2:1 with 5 gears to spin both wheels. Last year, there were no gear ratios (except a trashy 2:1 bevel gear); this year, there were 2: a 2:1 drivetrain (agreeable), and a 1:3 lift. That might be too much, but I'll change it if necessary.
